Michael Nilsson received a MSc in Mechanical Engineering in 1989 from Linköping University in Sweden. Already 1983 March, he joined SAAB Aerospace AB in Linköping, Sweden. During his time at SAAB, he has served both in managerial (team manager, group manager – 13 years) as well as system and structural engineer positions. 3 years as Project Manager at CENTEK International Training and Development Centre at Luleå University of Technology (LTU), 1 year at European Commission, DG CNECT in Brussels as Project Officer (ICT research programme),  2 years at Effnet Group AB, as Site Manager/Director of Research and Development and currently as Project Manager at Centre for Distance-spanning Technology (CDT) at LTU. A research and innovation centre at the Department of Computer Science, Electrical and Space Engineering coordinates research and innovation AI, 5G, IoT, Smart Cities, datacenter, green transition -related activities within LTU-projects
