Mark is a senior researcher and scientific project lead at Know-Center. His background and research interests reside in the topics of code generation, parallel computation and scheduling on GPU as well as computer graphics rendering and virtual reality. At Know-Center he provides and extends his technical expertise in hardware accelerators and is currently focusing on bringing code generation for sparsity exploiting operations to GPU. In this context he actively contributes to open source projects like Apache SystemDS and DAPHNE as a direct committer. He received his PhD from Graz University of Technology in 2019 in the field of computer science specializing in computer graphics. For an extended research stay, he worked in the computer graphics department at the Max-Planck Institute for Informatics in Saarbruecken, Germany from 2015 to 2017, working on 2D vector graphics rendering. Since these days he has moved to the field of systems research for large scale data analytics, machine learning and high performance computing, currently working on DAPHNE (EU ICT51 funded).
