Dr. Joan S. Pujol Roig is a RAN AI manager at Samsung R&D Institute UK, where he works on developing AI/ML solutions to be applied to wireless communications. Joan received his Ph.D. degree from Imperial  College of London. The latter was supported by a Toshiba international scholarship of excellence. He acquired his Ph.D. degree at the information processing and communications lab, under the supervision of Prof.  Deniz Gunduz. In January 2020 he joined Samsung as a full-time research scientist. Since joining Samsung, he has been involved in several ML/AI projects focused on the development of deep reinforcement learning solutions applied to RAN and resource orchestration. His current research interests include information theory, resource optimization of wireless networks,  deep learning and deep reinforcement learning.
