Evangelos Markakis
Assistant Professor at Hellenic Mediterranean University

Evangelos Markakis was born in Heraklion, Crete in 1980. He holds a doctorate from the University of the Aegean in 2014. He is an assistant professor and principal Investigator of the PASIPHAE laboratory at the Hellenic Mediterranean University with an expertise in wireless and broadband networks. Evangelos has participated in at least 25 EU FP5/FP6/FP7/Horizon2020-funded IST/ICT/Health/Security projects. Evangelos is the Technical Coordinator of the Horizon -TRUSTEE Data Federation of European Data Spaces project. His primary areas of expertise consist of Fog Computing & Networking, Emergency Communications, Distributed Systems & P2P Applications, Design of Large-Scale Heterogeneous Networks, Network Management & Virtualisation Techniques, Including SDN/NFV Concepts. He has published over 100 journal articles, conference proceedings, and books with peer review. He is a member of the IEEE Communication Society (ComSoc) and serves as co-chair of the IEEE NFV-SDN Conference’s Demonstration Committee, co-chair of the IEEE Public Safety Initiative for Testbeds, and as a contracted expert for EU Horizon Evaluations, ENISA, and ETSI.
