Unlocking innovation through synthetic data: Hands-on approaches leveraging community collaboration for Impactful experiments
Synthetic data offers a transformative opportunity for boosting data innovation while addressing critical privacy challenges.
This session is designed to explore the practicalities of using synthetic data in real-world applications, drawing on lessons learned from community members and aiming at designing future experiments and building collaborations. Participants will engage in hands-on exercises to design experiments leveraging synthetic data, gaining insight into its utility and governance implications. The session will also cover standards and best practices for ensuring synthetic data utility and reliability.
Through this interactive session, we aim to:
- Discuss promising use cases of synthetic data, e.g in verticals such as fraud detection and risk analysis (financial sector), bias and fairness auditing (government), predictive maintenance (industrial operations), and sensor-based energy data analysis, etc
- Explore the role of community collaboration in advancing synthetic data experimentation and innovation and defining what a good experiment looks like.
- Assess if these experiments could be run and how in the current context of data spaces
Whether you’re a data scientist, a policymaker, or part of a broader innovation ecosystem, this session will equip you with the tools to harness the potential of synthetic data and contribute to its growing role in the data economy.
