From Data to Impact in Green Deal Data Spaces (GDDS)
As the European Green Deal advances the integration of data-driven solutions for sustainability, the ability to assess, utilise, and create value from environmental data is essential. This session will explore key aspects of value creation within the Green Deal Data Space, across three perspectives
1. Value Creation Foundations: focusing on methodologies for assessing high-value datasets, readiness levels, and smart city data;
2. Technological Enablers of GDDS: showcasing how data-driven and AI approaches can support data use, prediction, and optimisation across sectors;
3. Data Value in Sustainability and Climate Reporting: presenting how data can be used to create sustainability communities and facilitate climate reporting. The session blends technical insights, real-world use cases, and policy reflections from leading EU projects to identify how environmental data can move from availability to actionable impact.
Objectives of the session:
• Explore key methodologies for data value creation in GDDS.
• Discuss challenges in data value assessment, readiness, accessibility, and usability for environmental applications
• Highlight strategies for leveraging high-value datasets, satellite data, citizen science contributions and smart city data spaces
• Present technological enablers of dataspaces and relevant ongoing challenges based on contributions from relevant Horizon EU-funded projects.
• Explore the role of data and AI in Climate Reporting and build Ecosystems for Sustainability.
• Engage participants in a discussion on to identify practical steps for value realisation from environmental data.
