Data-Driven resilient territories
The workshop on Data-Driven Resilient Territories establishes a strategic framework for the technical and operational convergence of the European Data Spaces of Tourism (DEPLOYTOUR), Green Deal (SAGE), and Sustainable Smart Cities and Communities (DS4SSCC). By synthesizing the distinct methodologies of resilient relevant pilots of these data spaces DS4SSCC (BeatTheHeat, Geo4Water), DEPLOYTOUR (Resilience in the Balearic islands), and SAGE (EIRENE Air Quality, BECO2 and GEESE Environmental exposure with CO2), this session aims to formalize a unified digital ecosystem capable of addressing the dual requirements of sustainable economic growth and robust crisis management. The CyclOps project shows how to support an automated end-to-end data life cycle management for FAIR data integration processing and re-use, illustrated by a DEPLOYTOUR pilot case.
A primary objective of this session is to demonstrate the potential of interoperability between different data spaces in the context of resilient territories for the support of environmental monitoring and economic management systems.
The session is designed to provide local authorities with a roadmap for generating actionable intelligence from complex, cross-sectoral datasets. By exploring the nexus of shared data, participants will identify how real-time environmental indicators can be utilized to harden local economies against the increasing frequency of extreme weather events. This focus ensures that data space architecture is not viewed merely as a technical exercise, but as a critical infrastructure component for regional resilience.
This can become a foundation for turning European data spaces into engines of data and AI sovereignty and making the development, deployment and operations of compliant data and AI service pipelines economically viable, trusted and scalable across borders and sectors. What will be required in terms of security, trust, regulatory and compliance mechanisms to achieve this? Is it possible to establish a federated marketplace across data spaces to support AI-based innovation with a next generation of AI development tools? A holistic approach can reinforce the European vision of a digital-green twin transition, positioning data spaces as the foundational layer for the resilient territories of the future.
This session on “Data-Driven Resilient Territories” has logical links and synergies with the previous session on “Data Spaces for Smart Cities: AI-Ready Trusted Platforms to Scale Urban Innovation” and the next session on “Interoperable Data Ecosystems and AI-Driven Digital Twins for the Ocean and Inland Water Systems”.
