The session will explore the essential role of human oversight in AI, focusing on two areas. First, insights from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki’s interdisciplinary research project for Greece’s 2023 general elections will be presented, highlighting the importance of human oversight in using large language models (LLMs) in journalism projects and other societal sectors. Second, human oversight in the industrial domain will be discussed, including lessons from the PERKS project coordinated by Cefriel, focusing on knowledge collection and elicitation, and validating knowledge extraction and question-answering. Participants will gain practical insights into the importance of human oversight in ensuring ethical and legally compliant AI implementations.
