Discover Oslo and learn how to get around

Practical info about the transport tickets:

  • A single ticket for one zone is valid for 60 minutes from the time you activate it. The 24-hour ticket is valid from the time you activate it until the end of the period the ticket lasts.
  • The validity of the single ticket increases by 30 minutes for each additional zone you purchase a ticket for.
  • You can change to other means of transport (transfer) in the zones for which the tickets are valid, as long as there is time left on the ticket when you board the means of transport.
  • The tickets can be used on Ruter buses, trams, subways and boats, and on Vys trains in Oslo and Akershus.
  • A senior discount is given to anyone who has reached the age of 67, has a senior certificate, receives disability benefits (approved by NAV) and/or is blind/visually impaired. Wheelchair users travel free of charge on Ruter’s transport.

The cost of a single ticket for an adult starts from 4,11 € (for one zone), while if you purchase a 24-hour ticket it costs 12,24 € (for one zone). The 24-hour ticket may be worth it if you travel more than three times a day.

Important!

Travel smarter and save money by buying your ticket in advance. Grab a single or 24-hour ticket in the Ruter app, or pick up a travel card at Narvesen, 7-Eleven, Mix kiosks, or the customer center at Jernbanetorget (address here). Your travel card costs just €4.47 and can be reused: simply top it up with tickets or credit whenever you need. In a rush? You can buy a single ticket on board buses or boats (cash only), but it is more expensive.

From MEET Ullevaal to the Oslo City Hall: get on metro T4 or T5 at Ullevaal Station and get off at Nationaltheatret. The metro runs every 5 minutes. You can plan your travel at this link or on the Ruter app.
